Today, Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world. However, they were a Ducth colony for over 100 years. Why didn't the Dutch convert the native population like the Spanish and Portuguese?

Talleyrand seems to be universally considered a corrupt figure by his contemporaneous. He was also continuous employed by the most different and diverse regimes over various decades. Why was he considered so important and useful? And how did he manage to be always at the top with so much distrust?
